Weary Angels Heart (rehearsalroom CD)

Review Strutter Magazine August 2003 - Score: 7,5/10

By: Gabor Kleinbloesem

AFTER THE SILENCE is a female fronted Dutch band, and the band sent me their demo that includes 5 tracks. They already informed me that it was recorded during a rehearsal, so this is really a rough demo, nothing more nothing less. So I will not discuss the sound quality here, because that isn’t fair, but this review should inform you about this upcoming band that will definitely make it in the near future. AFTER THE SILENCE is playing Melodic Rock/AOR with similarities to VIXEN, WITNESS and 80s HEART. The band has a good female lead singer, but because this demo is more like a rehearsal, it’s hard to hear this, but if you tune in to the semi-AOR ballad/rocker “Resurrection” you can hear that this band has the potential in becoming a very strong act. This song also has a progressive break towards the end, and without a doubt it’s a very interesting song. One of the other highlights on this demo is definitely “Let love surround me”, a very good strong midtempo AOR song with good vocals and nice keyboardwork. Also closing track “Weary angels heart” is worth mentioning, because this is prime-time uptempo AOR/Melodic Rock. I really look forward to a future official CD, with a real production, so the vocals are not fading away like it is now on this demo, then we can easily look out for a new exciting AOR/Melodic Rockalbum with female lead vocals.
