AFTER THE SILENCE - NEWS - 2002

ATS at Glaspop Leerdam

09-2002

Glaspop logoOn satuday 7th of september 2002 we had our first gig at the Glaspop-festival at the Europaplein in Leerdam, after our summerbreak and also the first After The Silence-gig for our new bandmember, keyboardist Joop de Rooij. After the heavy sound of the band Nuclear Garden we were allowed to do our thing. The festival was hosted by an old friend of ours, "Johan Vos" (he once played drums in Diamond Evil, and now has his band "Garlic"). Against all expectations because of the bad weather-forecast, the sun shined brightly when we had to play. Eventhough we could hear ourselves very badly, it turned out to be a rather decent performance, because after the show different people came to us, telling us they enjoyed our gig and our music very much, and that's why we do it!

Several friends also came to see our gig, like Andreas Smits (and his wife Janny and son Arwin) from the band Pluis en de Struikrovers, Bert van Heukelom from Willem's old band "Van Heukelom", Frank van Stijn (Old-Gilgamesj singer, now with Zixth Zense) and many others.

Sharon den AdelAfter this gig, I (Ingrid) had a little surprise for the boys of the band, because no less a person than Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) and WT-manager Lex van Iterson (Lex already did send me an e-mail they would come to visite us) and a friend also especially came to Leerdam to watch our gig. In spite of Sharon's very busy schedule, because the same day she also was allowed to get back to work for recording new songs in the studio, they still reserved this time to watch us playing. This seemed to be the opposite world; instead of us watching a WT-performance they came to watch ours.... So this was a kinda funny feeling, but ofcourse very nice as well. After this gig we had a nice little chat with this very kind and nice people, before they went home again. After we'd say goodbye, we stayed a little while at the festival to watch some other bands.

The festival-organisation seemed very satisfied, because they invited us to play again one next time....so this will be continued! So Glaspop 2002 was a very succesful and nice experience to After The Silence!
