Profile Ingrid for Metalwitches.com published sept. 2006

Name: Ingrid van den Hof-van den Berg
Birthday: 18th of August (1971)
Your present band(s): After The Silence
Your past band(s): Septic Child was the most serious band before After The Silence
First record you bought: Don't laugh at me, because it has got nothing to do with metal or rock, but my very first record was "Rivers of Babylon" from Boney M, but this was in 1978. I was about 7 years old at that time. At that time there were no cd's yet, so it was a real old-fashioned black vinyl 7 inch record.
Your best concert: My best concert? Well....I think my best concert is just yet to come somewhere in the near future, but we did some very nice gigs in the past. Among others together with the American Progrock band "All Too Human" in Musicon, The Hague. These were very nice quys and they play great music.
Best concert you've seen: The best concert I have ever seen wasn't a metal concert, but it did Rock hard and heavy as well, because it was a concert of noone less than the only queen of Rock: Miss Tina Turner (at her Wildest Dreams tour in 1996). This woman really knows how to perform. Respect is the only word!!
The 2nd concert I'd like to mention and which I won't forget soon is the U2 concert (Vertigo tour) which I saw in july 2005 at the Arena stadium in Amsterdam. It was always one of my biggest wishes to see this band live, but it's always very difficult to get tickets, but last year I did succeed to get them. This was a very impressive experience to me.
Favourite song: That's a very difficult question, because I'm a musical "omnivore". I listen to everything, from Hardrock to several popmusic or even some classical music. Can I name a few more favourite songs? The best song ever written in my opinion is "Imagine" by John Lennon. And I do admire all songs written by U2; my most favorite U2 songs are; "Where the streets have no name", "The unforgettable fire", "With or without you" and ofcourse "one". But I also like other U2 songs a lot. Other favorite songs are: "That was yesterday" by Foreigner. And ofcourse all songs by the greatest AOR / Classic Rock band ever: "Journey"!!! And "Love is all" from Roger Glover (with the great voice of Ronnie James Dio) is a magnificent composition. I really loved that great cartoon videoclip! But.....okay, these are just a few songs from which I like. I really could go on and on and on......
Favourite metal band: There are a lot ofcourse, but some metalband I like are: Dream Theater, Within Temptation, Rainbow, Van Halen (preferably with Sammy Hagar), Epica, Nightwish, Vandenplas, and many many more.
Favourite non-metal band: Those are many bands in one row again, although I can't name you everything, because I listen to everything! Some non-metalbands I prefer to listen are: U2, Simple Minds (yes, I was grown up in the eighties....I'm sorry, haha...), Live, Queen, Beatles, Foreigner, Stray Cats, and so on and on.....
Idols: Since I was a little girl I always admired "Angela Groothuizen" a lot. She used to be a famous dutch teenage-idol in the eighties. Now these days she's a succesfull tv-host and she also performs in several theatres with various succesfull projects. Contiguously I do not really have "idols", but ofcourse I do admire a lot of artists. Those could be as well musicians or as well theaterpersonalities etc.
Place you would like yo go on tour / why? We haven't done real "tours" yet, but we did a lot of nice gigs in the past already as well. One of the nicest joints in the Netherlands was (and still is) Musicon, The Hague. There's always a great atmosphere and great audience. One of my wishes is to play in Tivoli, Utrecht somewhere in the future. I was born in Utrecht, so it would be nice to play on one of the biggest rock-stages of this city.
Life philosophy: Well, I don't really have a life philosophy I think. But maybe you can consider it as a life philosophy when I say "don't look further too much into the future in this life, just live day by day, moment by moment, because there's nothing more inmeasurable than life. What will be today, might be not there anymore tomorrow. It sounds like a cliché, but appreciate those little things in life and make the right choices at the right time as much as possible, before they might slipp away from you. It's like the lyric in the Toto "Can't stop loving you" song; "Time passes quickly and chances are few"..... And ofcourse the greatest John Lennon quote ever: "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". So.....just enjoy the here and the now, and don't look too much further......
